Well...looks like I'm flying out to Google HQ in California to do a talk about my photography in July, and doing a photography/post-production workshop/seminar with :dorkypyro: while we are there.

If you had climbed out of your time machine back in 2005 (when I bought my first camera) and told me this (along with a ton of other good things that have happened, since then) was going to be happening in my future, I doubt I would have believed you...even if time machines were a reality ;)

I'm super-excited!

More details as soon as the date is solidified :peace:

Tons of textures, including concrete, stucco, color washes, brick, skies, tile, walls, wood, vines, stone, fences, marble, metal, and more!

Normally $60, but it is on sale this week for $50 :)

You can purchase it here: [link]

Jody is one of my best friends, and a photographer I've been mentoring over the past year. He has come such a long way, in such a short amount of time, and is participating in the Austin, TX Fashion Week this year. He needs your vote to secure the People's Choice Award for the photography competition.

Granted, I may be a bit biased, but although he is the "newest" of the photographers in the competition, I feel his photo is by far the strongest. If you would take a minute and vote, he and I would very much appreciate it.

Vote here: [link]

Thanks in advance!

If you've ever wanted to learn how I achieve the colours in my images, this is a good opportunity for you. I have created a video version of the one-on-one tutorial I've been giving over the past several years. This is an unofficial announcement of the tutorial video until the official release.

The video is available immediately as downloadable content. It is a detailed walk-through of each step I take in my editing process, from Camera RAW to Photoshop. The video takes you through the complete editing steps for the 2 images you see in this post. It also comes with a .ZIP file containing several other layered .PSD files of my images for your reference and dissection.

The official release of the video (and accompanying support files) will sell for $199, but for a limited time, you can have it for $149. Your feedback is welcome, as there may be some final refinements made before the official release...but only if you want to give it. Regardless, if the final version has been tweaked a bit, you will receive a copy of that as well, at no additional charge.

Please note: Photoshop version CS3 or later is required!

If you are interested in taking advantage of this, please send an email to: orders@ibarraphoto.com and we will get back to you ASAP with info.

Thanks :)

TWO Covers :)

So, two days ago, the photography magazine in South Korea I am featured in (and the cover image I made with Jessa Peters) showed up in my mailbox. That alone was enough to keep me smiling for a few weeks, but it gets better...

Yesterday, copies of the book ("Vessel", by Sarah Beth Durst) featuring the cover I produced for Simon & Schuster Publishing (with Kristin Douglass: Model, Mirabai Wagner: Styling and Bodypainting, and Jessa Peters: Fabric Whooshing Coach) arrived in the mail. The shoot happened about a year ago (which means that I had pretty much forgotten about it), so it was a nice surprise to finally hold the book in my hands!

And to complete the Trifecta of Awesomeness: after expending countless hours trying to find somewhere to buy the (much sought-after) Carl Zeiss Sonnar 24mm f/1.8 Lens for my Sony NEX-7 camera, I pretty-much accepted that nobody can get one of these, for now (they are back-ordered all over the planet). But right before I shut down the computer for the night, I felt the need to check with my local pro camera dealer here in Austin (sometimes that which is the most elusive is right under your feet), and they actually had one! Within seconds of learning this, I pulled out the debit card and paid for it. And today, it is happily attached to my NEX-7 (whew!)

:)
PHOTO+ Magazine Cover - September 2012 Issue

FINALLY...a magazine cover featuring a photo I made with Jessa (and with Makeup & Styling by Mirabai Wagner). I have had several magazine covers, over the years...but this is the first one that used a photo I really like. It's one of my personal favourites, actually :)

PHOTO+ Magazine is based in South Korea

I am told they will send me a digital copy of the issue (as well as a printed copy), but for now, all I can show you is the magazine's website: [link]

For those who haven't seen it, the original photo is here:
In September, I am being featured in two different magazines: Photographie Artistique (France), and PHOTO+ (South Korea)

Over 20 (in total) of my images in two countries I have yet to be published in...so that's pretty cool. As Jessa and I like to say, "taking over the world, one magazine at a time"...hehe ;)
If you've ever been interested in taking my one-on-one tutorial demonstrating how I achieve the colour-grading in my work, this is a good opportunity for you!

If you sign up before July 28th, you get $100 off the normal session fee (usually $300).

The session is conducted in real-time, using Skype's screen-share feature. In about 2 hours (the average length of the session), I will walk you through every single step of my process, in fine detail. The session is also an open-forum for any other questions you may have. I often talk about everything I go through to actually take the photo, long before the post-production process (pretty colours are nice, but it takes more than that to make a good photo, of course!).

Please note: Photoshop version CS2 (or newer) is required. Lightroom simply does not have the features needed to do what I do (sorry, Lightroom users!). You do not need to be a Level 42 Photoshop Wizard, or anything: you only need a basic, rudimentary understanding of layers...and that's it. It won't hurt, I promise :)

After the session, you will have download access to a wealth of source materials I have put together for your referencing purposes, and I do give 30 days of free support, if you have any questions. In other words: you will not be left standing out in the cold :)

If you want to take advantage of this offer, please send me a note, and I will get back to you promptly :peace:

I was invited to participate in a G+ Hangout, hosted by Trey Ratcliff. This was such a good experience! I got to rub elbows with some amazing photographers...RC Concepcion, Jeremy Cowart, and Trey Ratcliff, to name just a few. You can see the entire thing here:

I highly recommend that you watch this, as you can pick up some free advice from some of the industry's best photographers :)

ALSO --> in case that didn't make you tired of my voice, you can watch a video of my Podcast Interview on TypicalShutterbug here: [link]

I have much love for all of you who have supported me...both of these events wouldn't have happened without you. As I often state: saying "thank you" seems terribly inadequate, but...thank you!
